Speed Dating
Another first for me was achieved last night when I experienced the latest phenomena to hit modern dating. Yes yours truly went speed dating. Having got myself all geared up for the experience last month, a last minute call from the organisers apologetically informed me of a postponement.
Not deterred, and after what seemed a long four weeks, I entered the Slug & Lettuce in Leamington to register for the night's proceedings. Issued with a number, a name badge, a pen and the all important match card. I joined a friend waiting at the bar for the experience to begin. It was only at this stage that a few last minute nerves kicked in.
However before I could get to hung up on why I was putting myself through all this, it was time to take our places at the tables. The girls get to remain at the table that matches their number, the guys get start at the girl with the same number as them and simply move to the next in sequence.
You are given three minutes with each girl and the bell rings, you then have a minute to move between tables. With a break halfway through, with the bell signalling round two it felt like been back at school.
I have to admit I really enjoyed it. I think I actually started to relax as the night when on and it then really did become fun. All to soon it came to the last meeting.
With my match card complete with the necessary ticks and crosses all that was left was to hand back the top copy and mingle in the bar.
So tonight it just a case of waiting to see how the Leamington jury voted.
